Fast Retailing, the parent, was established in 1949 in Japan by Founder, CEO and Chairman Tadashi Yanai, and its subsidiary Uniqlo is a leading global casual manufacturer and retailer. Nearly 2000 Uniqlo stores are in operation world-wide. Recently, the first Hawaii store was launched at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Hawaii COO Yuya Tanahashi is a graduate of Aoyama Gakuin University and entered Uniqlo after gradudation. He has worked in Uniqlo stores throughout Japan and also in Boston, New York City, and San Francisco. Uniqlo is a global brand based on Japanese style and branding — is Hawaii a unique market for Uniqlo? Are there special styles sold only in Hawaii?
