The Shape of Trump’s Deportation Agenda in 2025 (American Issues Take One0)
The Shape of Trump’s Deportation Agenda in 2025; Who Gets Deported and when (American Issues Take One). The hosts for this show were Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell. The guests were Benjamin Davis and Chuck Crumpton.
The discussion was: Trump’s campaign promise was to begin deportation of undocumented immigrants on day one of his swearing into office. Stephan Miller and Tom Homan, former acting director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will take the lead in implementing the deportation policy. Both these individuals were the original architects of Trump’s zero tolerance policy, separating children from parents, in Trump’s first term as president. Their media interviews prior and after the 2024 election was nothing short of obtuse. The question is who goes first, when, and how many? The next question is what negative impact to the economy, food prices, service industries, will massive deportations have? A slight majority of eligible voters voted for Trump and his tough talk about removing up 11 million residents out of this country. Did those voters realize what it would take to accomplish this herculean task and the cost to be paid to obtain? The panel discusses these questions.
The takeaway was: No one knows exactly what Trump will do to fulfill his campaign promise of mass deportations. It will unfold in view in front of all Americans in early 2025. How horrific or in line with how previous presidents handled deportations will be known soon enough.
