Wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the King

Allan Okubo is a Hawaii lawyer who has been practicing law in Hawaii for over 40 years. He has a B.A. from the University of Hawaii and a J.D. from California Western School of Law. While practicing law on one stage, Mr. Okubo has also had an acting career on another stage. He has acted in film, theater, and on television. Mr. Okubo may be the Hawaii lawyer that is seen most often on local television, recently appearing in commercials for Vacations Hawaii, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, and Hemic, among others. The title of our Program, The Play’s the Thing, is a line taken from the Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The next line is wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the King. Perhaps Shakespeare saw a connection between acting and finding the truth. Do actors and lawyers have some traits in common? Are all lawyers really actors? We will discuss the dual roles Mr. Okubo has played and what he has learned performing on both stages. The host for this episode is Mark Shklov. The guest for this episode is Allan Okubo.
