Profound changes for the State Energy Office. What happened with the Energy Office: Effective July 1, it will no longer be a Division within DBEDT, it will be an agency administratively attached to DBEDT. The Chief Energy Officer will no longer be a Civil Service position. It will be appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. What happens next year?
Barrel tax amounts supporting the office are reduced from 15 cents per barrel to 5 cents per barrel.. The rest of the funding will be from general funds. Also, they have been assigned to produce a report on carbon pricing and have been given $150k to do it. The position count looks the same (27)…
