Our Current Division is Not Going Away (Keeping the World Company)
Our Current Division is Not Going Away; We Still Need to Deal with American Fascism (Keeping the World Company). The hosts for this show were Jay Fidell and Tim Apicella. The guests were Jean Rosenfeld and Manfred Henningsen.
The discussion was: Our panel examines the phenomenon of Fascism in the United States. Whatever happens in and after these elections for the next president and for the composition of Congress, it remains that there is a identifiable Fascist phenomenon taking place in this country. How well organized is it, how powerful is it and how determined is it. What drives it and what is its current growth and dynamics. What is its connection with Trump and his followers and the rally at Madison Square Garden. How similar is it to the Fascism we saw in Europe and the United States in the 1930s. Most important, what do we need to do to deal it.
The takeaway was: If nothing else, we have learned over the course of the Trump campaigns that there is a Fascist movement in the United States and that many people support it. We need to examine the elements of that movement and how it is likely to develop, and how we can deal with it going forward.
