Children on the Edge (Journeys of the Mind)
Children on the Edge; How Does America Cope with Children who Face Serious Issues in Public/private Schools (Journeys of the Mind). The host for this show was Carl Ackerman. The guest was Andy Winfrey.
The discussion was: What are the emotional, psychological and behavioral issues that students on the edge of society face, and how do we institutionally deal with such issues. By speaking with long time special education teacher/ administrator, Andy Winfrey, we hope to uncover the issues facing children, and perhaps discover some solutions.
The takeaway was: ll people in Hawai’i and other locales will understand, a bit better, what special education is all about, and what are the main challenges, and perhaps what are some solutions. Having a veteran special education teacher/administrator as the guest will allow the audience to get a good feel for special education and its unique place in our society.
