The discussion was: Ever since the North American Electric Reliability Corporation lowered the applicability threshold on Battery Energy Storage Systems and their Inverter Based Resources, Generator Owners (GO) and Generator Operators (GOP) have been increasingly concerned with how this will impact their regulatory compliance risk. With violations potentially into the millions, this can certainly impact the way GOPs and GOs conduct their business, or even if they want to get into this business at all.
The takeaway was: With careful preparation and adequate guidance, GOPs and GOs can set up their NERC compliance program to avoid any potential violations with minimal disruption to their existing operations. Newly or soon to be commissioned facilities now have the opportunity to get off to a good start.
