3 minute thesis competition, UH 2018 winners (Education Matters)
University of Hawaii’s Graduate Division held it’s 2nd annual competition celebrating graduate research throughout the university.. Krystyna Aune, Dean of University of Hawaii’s Graduate Division, discusses The 3 Minute Thesis speech competition, a worldwide event started in 2008 at the University of Queensland to provide graduate students the opportunity to present and research communication skills by explaining their research in three minutes to a non-specialist audience. UH’s competition was held on April 28, 2018 . Students were judged in two categories: comprehension and content and engagement and communication. Florencia Duron Delfin, Department of Communicology, won both First Place and the People’s Choice award with her 3 Minute presentation “Influence of environment exposure on women’s negative emotion expression”
and Natalie Glibetic, Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering won Runner-Up with her presentation “stopping lethal leaking caused by sepsis”.
