Hong Jiang is Associate Professor and Chair of the Geography Department at University of Hawaii at Manoa, and her specialty is environmental issues and cultural geography of China. . She has done extensive research in Inner Mongolia, where she explored issues of land use and ecological changes from cultural and political perspectives. Her current research project explores “ideas of nature in Chinese thought,” a component of which is “tea and Chinese culture.” Against the background of the modern western tendency to separate nature and culture, the Chinese traditional culture offers ways to consider nature‐culture unity. She has been involved in the media, serving as the Hawaii Deputy Director of the Chinese‐ language New Tang Dynasty Television during 2010‐2013, and as a host on Asia for ThinkTech Hawaii during 2013‐2014.
