Churn Baby, Churn!
Rica Sunga-Kwan went from design work in NY to growing food! She was inspired to take a permaculture class and start an urban farm in her backyard when she moved to SF with her husband, Chris Kwan. Inspired to go further, they brainstormed a product to sell with ingredients they grew and came to ice cream. Rica grows the herbs they use in their original and creative ice cream flavors (think matcha, cardamom, baklava, bacon, rosemary and olive oil to name a few ingredients!). Additional ingredients are sourced from other small, nearby producers. Matt and Justine will talk to the couple about how their business has made themselves and their customers more connected to and informed about their local food system.
